3. Painting the locomotive and Tender

After a coat of primer it then needed three coats of green to cover the tender and locomotive body and black for the chassis. I prefer to hand paint these colours rather than spray. When i get to weathering it this will add to the used appearance of the locomotive. Still the buffer beams to do.

Prior to lining the loco and tender, give the body a thin coat of gloss varnish. This will help the transfers to adhere to the body. I have bought the Fox Transfers GWR Large Tender Locomotive Lining Set FRH7150_2960 to complete the job. The difficulty with transfers is not trying to attempt to much at once. Splitting up the job into small manageable bits is the key to success with transfers and it is not easy. So the body and tender will be left to dry.
