Wallington park Canopy

The last station building to be finished with a canopy. I chose to use the lasercut model railways kits, (2 of them). and this is what transpired:

First the building as was. Fragile as it was made of plaster and not keen to be moved. Also far back on the railway and not easy to access, which is why it has been left for several years. But that is now going to change.

I made a template of the front of the building as it consists of three 'wings and the canopy kits were designed to fit a straight wall.

Cutting out the roof parts so that the canopy would fit snugly against the fron wall relief.

A front view of the roof on the trestles:

The finished article. Two wall lights were added to the station building to finish it off.

The parts are quite delicate, especially the roof trestles and need careful handling. The best way to proceed is to build the trestles first, paint them and cut them to make a good fit against the front wall. Each one was taylor-made for that part of the station building. I then stuck the 'whole'  sections of the roof plates in position first. Then the difficult part cutting the end pieces to fit around the roof profiles.

Finally the same care is needed when fitting the 'glass' and carefully cutting it to fit. The valances are straight forward. The completed canopy is shown above and the two wall lights I added are shown lighting up the platform.
