Preparation

Preparing the surface onto which the transfers will be fixed
To start, coat the model with a gloss varnish and leave it to dry for 24 hrs. Gloss varnish provides a smooth surface that gives the transfer a greater grip, (Fig 1). Once the transfers are all in place and have had time to dry go over everything again with matt varnish. This will seal the transfers giving extra protection against fingers and usage. Before using either varnish make sure it has had a really good stir. Just because it’s clear doesn’t mean it’s ready to use.
